A massive sewing extravaganza to create fabric representations of my dear friend Vinny's nine paintings, titled as a group 'sketches for a new Hawaiian flag' has come to completion! When Vinny scored an opportunity to show his works at the Contemporary Museum in Honolulu, presenting his paintings to the curator, he told her that ideally they would be made into flags and flying on flagpoles... well she went for it, and we went to work!

So happy to have an opportunity to practice my sewing skills in a creative and professional way, it's been a callenge and a blast. The exhibition opening is March 27, and nine flagpoles have since been installed in front of the museum. So after visiting sweet friends in the SF bay area for a week, I'll roll into Honolulu just in time to attend! And will of course take lots of pics to later pass along.

Oh, but if you're lucky enough to be on O'ahu for the 28th, let me know and I can put you on a list to get in free for the shabang!

Here below is first an image of each painting, and then the flag version of itself at 29x42 inches. As always, you can click on any of the images to enlarge if you want. Enjoy!

Amy, they're wonderful - both Vinny's art and your fabric representation of them. Your skills really come through. Congratulations for all the hard work!
